I'm not saying it won't happen, I just see the current timing of such a transaction challenging. Although, such matters shouldn't stop folks from thinking through the opportunity. It is hard to see them finding talk time while being so busy cleaning their houses.

Nortel and Seimens seem to have similar upbringings. With both coming out of the carrier side of switches and backbone, shouldn't there be a lot of product overlap within their portfolios? The coming of NGNM might remediate part of this matter but there still will be migration issues.

As I hinted before, the most interesting dynamic with such a proposal would it's potential to align the interests of the US government with those of Qualcomm. I suspect Nokia would like to refrain from throwing such a log on that fire. But who knows, maybe they would see the potential to bring the FTC into the game as enhancing their stature within the EU.

Sounds more like a 2008 headline. By that time, Zafirofski will have both IMS and WiMAX ready to roll and NOK-SI will be rolling out their UMTS and TD-SCDMA solutions. What's the benefit in moving sooner?
