Will Gore Go Again...???

There is a new push on the internets. It's not for porn. It's not for viral videos. It's not even for Dolphin Olympics. Rather it is to draft former Vice President Al Gore to join the 2008 Presidential Campaign.

Gore, who has said repeatedly that he has no intentions of running in 2008, is widely considered to be one of the front runners for the Democratic nomination, even though he's not in the race.

Recently there was a meeting of many contributors and staff of his 2000 campaign where they essentially laid the groundwork for another presidential run. All Al would have to do is show up. The rest of the work is done for him.

Most Americans have strong feelings towards Gore already. Some hate him. However as of late most people have looked upon him with remorse, because they can't help but wonder if our country would be in the rough shape that it is in right now if the Supreme Court had allowed the recounts in Florida to continue (which by all accounts would have shown that Gore had won the Presidency).

With his recent success with his movie, An Inconvenient Truth, and after being nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, it wouldn't be a long stretch to think that maybe Gore had planned to run all along. It really would be genius. He has been able to transform himself from the robot like candidate to the man who is above politics. If he waits until later in the year to announce his candidacy he will be able to avoid the early debates, which he would surely be a target in, and thus continue to stay above the fray. He would be able to lay out his policy plans before the debate and be free from criticism from other democratic candidates, because they would not want to be seen as simply attacking someone for no reason.

Another factor that could easily favor Gore is the fact that he has shown that he can win the popular vote in our country. There is a movement afoot in many states to award their electoral college votes to whoever won the popular vote.

Gore has shown that he can win a Presidential election, and he may very well be the man to beat in 2008.
