It was a valid comparison made by many financial experts.

They are different markets. "Similar" doesn't mean a whole lot. I can find similar stock charts all day long. Even thought the NAS is more volatile than the DOW it still never "crashed" to the levels of the DOW in 1929. There was never any Great Depression that followed the "crash" 2000-2003. There was never any 9/11 type event that occurred during the time frame of 1929-1931. Any similarity is coincidence.
