I think politics are fair game as long as it is clearly related to the subject of the thread. It's the off-topic rants or personal attacks that get people into hot water. I don't think it's fair to characterize CD's thread as a day-trader's thread. While there are certainly some short-term-oriented participants, there are those like myself, Claude, dara, Howy and others who have held some of our positions for years. RR's thread is arguably a trader's thread as the moderator himself espouses the view that MOST of these issues are lottery tickets and nothing more. Technically, day traders hold no positions over night, so neither thread qualifies on that basis. I also owe my ARU position to RR's persistent table-pounding and it accounted for a decent part of my 2006 PF performance.
