Ichy,

Must have refused to file a refugee claim, that seems to be what they are there for, that and to collect taxes.

Isn't that the truth, but going to Canada also means revisiting US customs on the way back (and after his trip I suspect his group looked and smelled fishy :-).

John

Dealing with Canadian Customs ain't all sweetness and light. I went into Canada first time about 1974. Coming and going the US guys just waved us through. The Canucks tore the car and luggage apart. Put us in separate rooms, the whole 9 yards. Got stopped by some sort of paramilitaries in Monkton who searched the car and detailed every place we went to that evening. I went to the Mounties the next day and filed a complaint. They expressed amazement that such things happened.

Our last trip we were tore completely down as they had a report of a blue chev pickup transporting over the limit. They were complete assholes and when they have us basically disassembled and couldn't find anything they just walked away and said be on your way. Clothes laying on the ground tires off. Shit it took us 3 hours to put everything back together. For nothing. We eat fish while we are there but otherwise catch and release. Didn't have any filets to report and they refused to believe that. I don't need to end a vacation in such a manner.

I'm not alone either. I only know one group of guys from this area out of perhaps 40 that still fish Canada.

>>Terrorist border guards? In Canada? What on earth did you do to wake them up?<<

I've never had any problems with Canadian border guards. They're always very professional... <g>
