Some years ago Canada was giving Alaska fishermen a hard time over something in the Inside Passage. I forget precisely what the issue was.

Tony Knowles was governor. He says, "OK, if that's the way you want to be, the Alaska Marine Highway Ferries will no longer stop in Canadian ports."

Soon thereafter the issue was resolved.

For a Democrat, Tony Knowles was a pretty good governor.

We just happened to have the wrong colored truck that day. They have gotten so restrictive with their laws is the main reason most of the folks I know don't go anymore. You can have the same fishing and serenity at lake Kabetogama for instance and not deal with the crazed fish cops. And I have all the fishing I need right here or northern WI so it just doesn't make a lot of sense to travel to fish.

Mom and Dad left at 10:15 for a beer and eggs run, We are supposed to have quite a storm in the next couple of days, and heaven forbid we pay for Canadian beer at Canadian prices. Home by 12:30 for lunch. I think for 2 people over 85 they are doing pretty good. Although I admit I was a tad startled when they went out to buy "a small honda that is easy to park" and came home with a Blazer..... Heated seats apparently are better than easy to park
