Don't forget that not all jazz is good, as with any other type of music. I'd say that 5% of all music distinguishes itself by being excellent, 5% by being absolute dreck, and the other 90% is pretty much OK by varying degrees, but indistinguishable from the rest of the 90%. That applies across al genres. That's why when people ask me what my favorite kind of music is, I say "Excellent music." It's also why when I was listening to my iPod while driving the other day (through the car stereo), and allowing it to just go alphabetically through its contents, I heard both Captain Beefheart and Cecilia Bartoli, among many other things. - Allen
