CJ, > On the other side, I have you feeling it is a scam.

"Carbon credits" represent nothing more than financial incentives made by rich liberal elitists to get others to make up for their own CO2-emitting lifestyles. Whoop-dee-doo. I don't see this as any different than a simple donation to a non-profit environmental organization.

So if Al Gore wants to make up for his own CO2 emissions by having others plant one tree for every 10 miles he flies, good for him. Hopefully these volunteers, er, "carbon credit entrepreneurs" will ensure that these trees survive long enough to make up for Al Gore's flights. Anything less and these "carbon credits" aren't worth a damn penny.

> Since you don't feel strong enough to do anything about but make snarky comments, I have to assume you don't take it all that serious of a scam.

I don't take it all that seriously because no one is being "scammed" except those who came up with the system themselves, i.e. the rich liberal elitists. If they want to throw their own money away, why should I intervene? They have every right to spend their money in whatever way they choose.

I can call B.S. on their own environmental hypocrisy and piousness, though. The fact that you are quick to defend Al Gore with red herrings and logical fallacies (such as "You don't take it seriously because you don't bother reporting it to the FBI") tells me a lot about the indefensibility of such a scheme.
