Fine. But what politician has ever slavishly followed poll results? Do some politicians tend to jump on board when polls are running high for or against certain issues? Well, yes. Only a truly brain dead politician would ignore something like that. But, I doubt seriously you could find any politician who takes up an issue as soon as it polls above 50%, only to drop it when it dips below.

All politicians have, at one time or another, run against the polls. If only because a major contributor wants it that way.

Probably so but that's not what Republicans do. Case in point is Bush. The people want the war ended in Iraq and he's escalating it.
