Why, should they? It's a big country with porous borders. Do you think the US government knows every meth lab or illegal crossing in and out of the country?

Well, if the Iranian Government doesn't know, they certainly should.

The Iranian government might have sold them to Syria or passed them through to Lebanon [[Hizbollah]. Where they go after that Iran wouldn't know.

It's actually a fairly clever comment, though, though it's not clear whether that's intentional. It leaves the Iranians with a face-saving opening:

I haven't seen this Administration use such subtleties up to this point. It would be completely out of character.

Either an accident, or a nice little gambit... we'll see.

Add option three. Pace can't tolerate the thought of another run up to another war with cherry-picked intelligence.
