Would you want to? yes, of course. But that does not mean that they can. Keep in mind a few other factors. (1) for nearly 20 years, Iran armed Shia militias against Saddam. It is inevitable that some of those are still around. (2) these weapons are pretty much home brew. I don't think anyone can really say that they are made in Iran or have been supplied as such to the militias. The best that can be claimed is that some of the components before being modified could have come from Iran. (3) Even assuming that every think the admin says about Iran and these weapons is correct, the casualty list is only a very small fraction of the total casualties. You'd think that if Iran really wanted to supply those bent on killing Americans, the numbers would have been much higher.

Well, yes. If someone's sending arms that are traceable to your country to fuel a conflict that could easily bounce back at you, wouldn't you want to know about it? That's reasonable. But that line of logic suggests that if the Iranian government were shipping explosives to Iraq, they would do their best to make sure they're not traceable back to Iran. Why ship serial numbered IEDs labeled "Made in Iran"? Surely, they could make a production run without serial numbers and their country etched on them. We could start contorting around that logic...It's so obviously stupid to ship weapons labeled "Made in Iran" that they would do just that. That way the US would think they're not that stupid, so it must be coming from somewhere else. Maybe Israel is producing IEDs labeled "Made in Iran" and shipping them through Egypt. It would certainly be of benefit for Israel to have the US believe Iran is shipping IEDs. Better to have the US bomb Iran than Israel. After all, someone made a forged letter showing that Saddam was trying to obtain yellow-cake from Niger. List the countries who would "benefit" from that forgery.... the US, Israel, and Iran. There's nothing so morally repugnant about a forged letter that would keep any of those countries from doing that. It's just a matter of doing the distribution so that it doesn't come back to you. Not rocket science. jttmab
