I have been using my Canon S3 to replace my Sony TRV900. The Canon S3 generates 640x480x30 video at the speed of 2 MByte/second. The video quality is superior to the Sony TRV900 - a 3-CCD DV camcorder.

The speed of 16 mbps is about enough for the current HDTV, but may not enough for uncompressed 1024p HDTV in future. However, I don't see it a problem and the speed of NAND will keep up with the HDTV technology and product deployment.

The Canon S3 is a low cost digital camera, which has a 12x optical zoom, image stabilizer, and unlimited and zoomable video recording capability.

By the way, today's market action seemingly supports my theory :o).

Otherwise, there must be rumor about MU's going to be acquired.
