So what does win mean (to you), and how do you achieve the win?

I don't believe that "winning" is relevant to gem. It's a nice goal, but it's the struggle that's important. Don Quixote ... Everybody sing ... To dream the impossible dream ...

To me personally?

The term ‘win’ doesn’t really work for me at all. We won in our first mission, which was to defeat the regime of Saddam. Since then the military operation has evolved into something that has goals but not an objective to defeat a particular entity. There are outcomes that would be more or less satisfying to me and that I could support, while there are others I would oppose. I would be satisfied if, when we left Iraq, we could do so with the knowledge that we had not enabled someone or a group to force others to live under their oppression. I would oppose an outcome where our efforts have resulted in the reverse.

"...how do you achieve the win?

Ch'yaaa, what do I look like?
