To: SARMAN who wrote (218295 ) 2/13/2007 7:56:36 PM From: Dayuhan Respond to of 281500 There is nothing in this transcript that indicates a "green light" for Saddam to attack Iraq. At most it indicates that Glaspie was not authorized to comment or express an opinion on Iraq's border dispute with Kuwait. The NYT piece is headlined "Excerpts From Iraqi Document on Meeting with U.S. Envoy". Please note: Iraqi Document . It also says this, right at the top: Here are excerpts from a document described by Iraqi Government officials as a transcript of the meeting, which also included the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Tariq Aziz. A copy was provided to The New York Times by ABC News, which translated from the Arabic. The State Department has declined to comment on its accuracy. In other words, you're looking at a document designed to claim support by the US for Saddam Hussein, and released by... Saddam Hussein. Even if there was a green light in there - and there isn't - it wouldn't be in any way credible, because it comes from a source with such a clear vested interest in distortion. Can you explain why does the US needs foreign policy than? Based on your logic that the US does not meddle, I say the US does. If the US does not, than why it has a foreign policy? All countries have foreign policies. What on earth, if anything, are you trying to say? I didn't say the US doesn't meddle, I asked you to support your claim that American meddling caused 9/11 with facts or reasoning. It might help if you start by telling us what you mean when you say "meddling".it is your problem to contest my sources with valid ones. Are you asking me to support your arguments with valid sources? If you claim that the US gave a "green light" for Saddam's invasion of Kuwait, it's up to you to support that claim with evidence. Documents released by Saddam's government don't qualify.
