I wonder if the Fed publishes the consumer debt data. I seem to recall that they do.

They publish it. There was a hearing in the last couple of weeks where the Fed was discussing all the bummers in the economy, consumer debt being one of them along with the savings rate. They were somewhat unconcerned about SS; it was "small" compared to the problem of Medicare.
