Actually Gore got more votes than Bush...We must remember that Bush was SELECTED to be president in 2000 by the U.S. Supreme Court (in their most controversial decision ever).

I explain Bush beating Gore by considering the "red state" vs. "blue state" philosophy that was promulgated by Rove. Rove first hardened the red state base by accentuating "social issues" over anything else. He made Gore the Anti-Christian candidate and Bush the man that listened to Jesus before all others. Gore couldn't even win in Tennessee, his home State, because of that. That locked up the Red States, but then they had to peel off enough voters in the swing states to win the Electoral Vote. That required a MAJOR attack on Gore, the person. The stories about Gore saying he invented the internet. The stories about Gore saying that the movie "Love Story" was based on him. NONE of that would have worked if Gore hadn't been SUCH a lousy candidate. He sounded like a badly programmed robot in the debates. His idea about the "lock box" could have been a big winner if he'd actually been able to tell people what he meant by it. If he'd actually been able to "mention" Bill Clinton and let him join the campaign. If he could have just asked somebody in the room what he should wear rather than calling in that ditz, Naomi Wolf. Gore, still WON the election by 300k votes. You haven't seen ANYTHING of Obama. In the next year you will see that guy run through every fine tooth comb you can imagine. If he can stand up through that, then "maybe" you've got a candidate.
