This is yet another sign that this industry is making progress towards the consolidation and consistent profitability throughout the entire sector.

Just as the combination of KLA and Tncor in 1998 signalledthe trough of the sectors recovery - we are currently seeing very similar actions.

This is a sign of the trough - RIGHT NOW.

Amats numbers -triple the net on slightly light revenue AND with increasing orders (if not in Q1 but through out 2007) is all that is needed.

My bet is as the general market climbs the wall of worry,we'llsee this sector gain inrelative strength very soon.

The cash levels and profitability are just undeniable - if nothing else venture capital will begin making moves.

It seems that the expansion of memory is much more robust than originally thought and may well continue as so many consumer products proliferate.

I for one think we ar on the very edge of a logic expansion. This expansion was delayed when Vista was deferred.

Watch how Intel redefines who has what in the leading edge of the 45nm transition and you'll see who the next big players are.

Varian has won a big win here.Axcelis appears to now have breathing roomas well.

Itlooks to me like Varian is the leading edge winner as far as logic is concerned.

I think logic is in the pilot production stage - with a ramp up and build out growingthrough the rest of 07 and early 08.

JMHO
