Re: By the way Iran does have many, many medical discoveries

How about you provide a list of them?

I'll start with the one below.....coming to a pharmacy near you.....LOL.

If one is going to make an assertion, the least one can do is provide an example or two. Too often on these threads rhetoric is bandied about without any substance to back it up.

Iran Introduces AIDS Cure

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- After 7 long years of arduous work, Iranian scientists here on Saturday introduced a herbal medicine which cures Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

"The drug named 'IMOD' is completely effective and safe with no proved side effects," Iran's Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Training Kamran Bagheri Lankarani said during a ceremony at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Hospital.

The Iranian AIDS drug strengthens immunity system of the patients against HIV and provides a more qualitative life for the affected population.

Elroy, you didn't answer the questions. You're evading them.

I discuss things I want to discuss. If I find your question interesting I'll discuss it. If not, I probably wont. That's the way these discussion boards work. Go teach school if you want to dictate the subject of discussion to others.

I notice that it's always a "subjective" determination for you. Are lives being improved by our US deeds? How very arrogant of you.

Your point escapes me. Sometimes US deeds improve other's lives, sometimes not. Why do you call that view - which says its better to analyse each US overseas action independently rather than with broad all encompassing generalizations - arrogant? It just seems a fact to me. It also seems like common sense. I don't get your point.

We quashed Russian imperialism while at the same time in Latin America we were installing dictators to rival Stalin with all the killings.

See, sometime good, sometimes bad. Now you're getting it!

You're a pure hypocrite that cannot see the log in your own eye.

Well I can't understand you, that's for sure. Why are you name calling and what log are you talking about?

Do you wonder why Chavez and most of Latin America are fleeing from the US????Don't think it's because we were kind to them, we raped their resources, set up regimes that killed many of their people, set up civil wars among their peoples to cause discord and disharmony in order for the US to take advantage of the wealth of their countries.

We did all these things? Weren't they adults that control their own destiny and should take responsibility for their own actions, or lack of actions? You make it sound like the USA is the rancher and the people of Latin America just chickens and sheep that we raise and then eat. That kind of view is incredibly arrogant. I think the people of Latin America are equals entitled to do as they please, if they want to buddy up with the USA good for them. If they want to socialize their economy as in Venezuela they can do so, and they will reap the rewards or lack of rewards, but the decisions and the subsequent responsibility for what those decisions produce is theirs, not ours.

My oh my, why can't China who has not left its borders to meddle in other countries affairs, set up a base in Venezuela? They would have every right to be there to make certain that it can counteract American adventurism in the event the US wants to confront China?

China could attempt to set up a military base in Venezuela if it wanted to. The USA might attempt to stop them, especially if the purpose of the Chinese base is to limit American actions. In fact if that were the purpose of the Chinese base in Venezuela, they'd better be ready for strong opposition to it by America.

Do you think military bases are some 'right' that country's magically possess? They're not. They are an expression of strength and power, and strong powerful countries have them. Less powerful countries don't.

You are indeed an arrogant hypocrite that simply thinks because you're an American you have the right to interfere in other peoples business. You don't and most people like to be left alone to solve their problems, they don't need big brother. Right now most of the Iraqis want us OUT, we are not there for good deeds, we're there to take their oil if we can ever get the place secure. Good deed, my rear end.

Nope, you're misunderstanding. We don't have rights to interfere overseas because we are American. We have the ability to do so because we are powerful. The point I will make is that of all the large powerful nations, America is the one that most of the world would like to have exerting its influence. American are NOT colonialist, imperialists or racist/sexist. The values of America - blind to religion, blind to ethnicity and sort of blind to sex, and respecting individual human rights, are good values for the people of the planet. And it is better to have a country with these particular values as the dominant force on the planet than have the countries which are biased regarding religion and sex (Iran) or biased regarding ethnicity (China) be dominant.

Europe, Australia, Asia ex-China and the rest of the free world may bitch to high hell about the USA (just as Americans bitch to high hell about our political leaders), but ask them whether they'd prefer it if China-Iran-Russia-wherever became more powerful than the USA, and you are going to get a resounding 'no'.

If you don't want America dominating the world militarily, who do you want dominating the world militarily? And don't give me some 'la la la we should all just get along with daffodils and no guns' answer, because that aint going to happen in your lifetime.

If you want to perform good deeds, go down to Louisianna and perform some good deeds where it truly needs to be done. It's like a third world country that the US has lost sight of and the rest of the world is laughing at our ability to help ourselves.

I don't live in the USA. I perform good deeds where I live. Regardless, the USA should help both the people of Lousiana and the people of the rest of the world.
