Why didn't they index it when they created it?

The income tax itself only affected the "rich" when it was enacted.

Here's the plan. Tell people this tax provision isn't going to affect them (haha), only really really rich people.
And if anyone every tries to lower tax rates, index them, raise deductions, whatever - accuse them of waging class warfare on the little people to enrich the already mega-rich. Then let inflation work against the taxpayers. Taxes aimed at the "rich" will eventually fall on the upper middle class, then the middle class,.....

Class warfare rhetoric has been used against the people of this country for over 50 years - appealing to envy, resentment - and gullible people still swallow it.

I need to run but want to just say this.

As the candidates from both parties present their goals and their economic plans, I'll be looking intently to see how their ideas, if put into practice, will affect the economy.
That's the prism thru which I view almost all the ideas that come out of a politician's mouth. It was one of the first things I thought about when I realized Bush was taking us to war in Iraq, as cold-hearted as that sounds.

I'm not the first person to point out the folly of waging war and cutting taxes at the same time.

I thought Republicans were primarily the business class in this country.
