Ms. Solomon said that the rising concentrations of such gases since 1750 were almost wholly attributable to humans, but Mr. Rohrabacher cut her off.

Like 99.99%. Like about 150 ppm out of an increase of about 150ppm.

How about you tell us where the increase is coming from. I'll make it easy; here are 2 versions of the carbon cycle.

It would help if you had a cool way of IDing your fluxes, too. Something like this...

Another, quite independent way that we know that fossil fuel burning and land clearing specifically are responsible for the increase in CO2 in the last 150 years is through the measurement of carbon isotopes. Isotopes are simply different atoms with the same chemical behavior (isotope means “same type”) but with different masses. Carbon is composed of three different isotopes, 14C, 13C and 12C. 12C is the most common. 13C is about 1% of the total. 14C accounts for only about 1 in 1 trillion carbon atoms. more

Remember, if there is a change caused by animal populations (the diff between pre-Columbian herds and current domestic herds), those are OUR cattle, etc. If there is a decrease in carbon uptakes by vegetation, it's cuz we are turning them into OUR newspapers. And, you don't really want to tell me it's coming from increased outgassing of soil, cuz that is already into the positive feedback cycle, and we would be screwed.
