Very good points.

Garmin apparently makes much better execution than NVT. I wish NVT could be like a Microsoft, or even just half of its performance 10-20 year ago. The Navteq executives are having an easy life. What they badly need is a push by some one like Carl Icahn or Cramer. Perhaps, a serious competitor will do the job, too.

The GPS-WiFi-Internet connection may be what Garmin needs to keep its edge.

GPS was a “high-tech” until recently. When all the Asian manufacturers learn the trick of making the gears, it is not easy, if not impossible, for GRMN to keep on the top very long. We’ve already seen a lot cheap devices coming to the market: Mio, Pharos, Holux, …… Yesterday Nokia’s announcement of 6110 GPS phone that uses Navteq maps is not a help to GRMN either.
