There were indications that lead times for the TWINSCAN™ XT:1700i (up to 9 months and more) were due to shortcomings of Zeiss to deliver optics to ASML in time. Zeiss has established new production facilities in the second half of 2006 and this was expected to solve the problem. Not sure about the 1900i here. It will be interesting to see how many TWINSCAN™ XT:1700i´s have been shipped in Q1. If I remember correctly ASML managed to ship 23 of these in 2006.

ASML starts global recruitment drive for 500 engineers

EE Times Europe
02/15/2007

BARCELONA, Spain — Lithography equipment supplier ASML is planning to hire 300 engineers and technicians from all over Europe over the next year, as well as take on 200 development engineers outside Europe, about half in the U.S. with the remainder in the Far East.

"ASML continues to achieve consistent growth, driven by demand for our products. As a result, we are seeking the best and brightest engineering and scientific talent we can find for our campus in Veldhoven, the Netherlands", said Adriaan Lanser, Director Resources and Talent Management at ASML in a statement Thursday (Feb. 15.)

Last year, the lithography pioneer started a campaign to hire new technical employees at its headquarters in Veldhoven. Lanser said that despite this, the company's demand for engineering and scientific expertise continues to rise.

ASML is focusing on engineers with experience in the areas of embedded software, mechatronics and physics, and in particular to work at development centers in Germany, Belgium, the U.K., Japan, Taiwan and the United States.
