Is Islam evangelical? I've never been approached about converting. But there is some stuff in Islam about forcing people to convert and spreading the religion with the sword. The Pope's controversial speech a few months ago discussed that topic, and indicated that religion should be rationally persuasive, not forcibly compelled. Then millions of Muslims rioted in the streets.....again! Perhaps that is the part of Islam that makes it so hard for them to separate church and state. They have to compel religious values (no booze, etc.), rather than leave it up to the individual and assume good Muslims just won't drink.
