Is it just me or do others see a conflict here between authenticity in representation and academic authority?

"Professor Israeli, an expert on Islamic history from Hebrew University in Jerusalem, has been brought to Australia by the Shalom Institute of the University of NSW. The Australia-Israel Jewish Affairs Council is co-hosting many of his activities."

So the civil unrest and violence in Australia and Europe is just economic - related to unemployment. Even when riots are triggered by something like Danish cartoons - its really unemployment thats the cause. Or when a Dutch politician is assassinated - its unemployment.

I guess this goes for Thailand too. And the Philippines, India, Nigeria, ...

Where are the large Muslim immigrant/minority communities w/o a lot of violence and civil unrest? Spain - no. France - no. Denmark - no. Scandinavia - no. England - no. In all these places and anywhere else one looks, one reads of bombings or thwarted bombings, or riots, or high rates of violent crime, or attacks on Jews, or imans preaching about hatred and violence, or "honor" killings, etc.

Now here in the US we don't yet have as large a Muslim minority as many countries. And we don't see so much of the bad stuff here. But the Muslim population is growing and what are we starting to see - young guys from Muslim countries walking into a mall in Utah or a Jewish center in Seattle and shooting people - or driving a car into a crowd full of people in NC or CA.

But those guys were probably just unemployed. Yeah, thats all.

If I'm wrong, just tell me the large Muslim immigrant/minority community w/o a lot of violence and civil unrest. I'll be expecting some of those wise folks who commented to give me an example.
