Then read the report on Saudi funding of salafi hate literature in a majority of American mosques: hotair.com I know there are several schools of religious interpretation in both Shia and Sunni Islam. And that supposedly 70% of the Sunnis of the world have been of the most liberal hanafi school. But it seems that the most extreme, fundamentalist, violence prone schools have been coming to the fore around the world - thanks to Mr Khomeini and the Saudi Salafi/Wahhabi establishment. From what I read 80% of American mosques are getting Saudi funding and therefore influence and teaching. And this is happening worldwide. (The Muslims I've had the most personal dealings with h/b Malaysians and Nigerians. I've noticed that Malaysian Muslim women - college educated and working in this country - now wear long dresses/slacks, longsleeves, a hood or scarf over the hair. Back in the '70's, none did this. They dressed like Americans. And Malaysian women then would complain about the double standard in their country - about women in the countryside there being impaled on poles by mobs over charged infidelity, but nothing bad for men in the situation. Now they still seem as friendly as ever, but there has been a marked change - adopting customs women in their country had never observed before. I'm sure this is all tied with their cousins in southern Thailand starting to kill Buddhists in the last few years. Just more signs the religion has changed.) This represents a real problem for the world as a whole and for Islam too. The bulk of the religion is getting hijacked or has been hijacked. And non-Muslims will judge all Muslims based on the group that is growing and seemingly taking over Islam. BTW a personal question. Do you know what is the relation between the Sufi branch of Islam and the rest? And how big is it?
