Ilaine, just don't dress it up. A pig is still a pig, even if it's wearing a hat. Just call it revenge. Call it dog eat dog. Call it toughest chimp wins. Call it hypocrisy. King George II [chief chimp] wanted Iraq's oil. Wanted revenge against subordinate chimp Saddam. So did various Iraqis. If we see an execution of those involved in killing children in Haditha, we'll see that there is justice.

Don't hold your breath for ANY Americans to face justice comparable to that which Saddam got from Americans who delivered him right to the door of the execution chamber. Bush's revenge attack on Saddam has caused a LOT more collateral damage than did Saddam's revenge on some adult males in a town where an assassination attempt was made [for which he was convicted and executed].

Saddam didn't kill any women or children, probably got the right guys and didn't cause any "friendly fire" deaths either. He caught the likely culprits, had a trial for them, and then they were executed.

The Haditha soldiers didn't do things in such an orderly way, complete with trial. They shot children including one hiding under a bed [who didn't seem a great threat]. No wonder the USA is in trouble and didn't win hearts and minds. Saddam was more popular in Iraq than Americans I guess. 80% of Iraqis want USA out now.

If I was the father or uncle of those children, I think I'd be inclined to kill a swarm of Americans too. Resisting terrorist invaders is a traditional thing for males to do.

"What I did was legal because I am above the law. I am the Great Ape, and law is for little apes."

Sounds like the cry of our own chimp Nero!

Um. Haven't Gonzalez and Co. made exactly that argument repeatedly on W's behalf? WRT FISA, Gitmo, "extraordinary rendition", and all matter of other things that might not be consistent with a conventional reading of US law? Is somebody perhaps a bit irony impaired here?
