I think Intel will be aggressive in the server space since it
has a competitive chip in Clovertown. Your "14 times that" is
wishful thinking IMO. And you leave the possibility that
Barcelona might be an inferior product. I think AMD is vague
when it talks about its next generation chip. It think AMD
is not aiming at raw performance advantage but at energy
efficiency. Whatever their reasons. Maybe AMD feels energy
efficiency is the metric of choice for servers, maybe AMD
cannot clock 65nm K10 very high. I think AMD will put the
emphasis on energy efficiency when benchmarks will be
available.
