Speaking of the Beatles, a friend just gave me a copy of 'Love', that recompilation thing that George Martin did with his son for the Cirque de Soleil.

I was sure I was going to hate it, but it turns out Martin outdid himself ... it's gotta be THE definitive greatest hits album hands down.

It's hard to describe what he's done, but here's one example ... Strawberry Fields Forever is a haunting 'accoustic' outtake for the first half, then in the long fade out he overdubs the fade out from Hello Goodbye (hey la, hey hey lo la) AND orchestral stuff from Piggies at the same time. It all just works and sounds like that's the way he should have done it the first time around.
