I wish they'd voted against Petraeus and against the surge (if they were going to oppose the surge)- but I can see why a politically motivated animal wouldn't do that. I'm not very political myself- just bloody singleminded in getting to the ends I want. Cheap politics (whatever we define that as) isn't treachery, you know- which dovetails nicely with the point I've been making all along. There's plenty of cheap (and expensive) politics on both sides of the aisle. In your corner, you've got the cheap politics and theatrics involved in the selling of this war to the public and congress. I don't think there are any clean hands here- maybe Chafee and a few other really honest creatures, but they are in a small minority, and I don't see them getting rewarded (at least not here on Earth.)
