Yes, a world currency would be a credit issue system, including credit cards, but existing credit cards are merely mechanisms for transferring existing state fiat currencies, though some are "bartercards" which swap goods and services, using invented currencies which are rated as being equal to a state-based currency. bartercard.com

What matters is the strength of the issuing "authority". Gold is popular because there is no issuing authority, just the cost of getting the stuff out of the ground. If a country like Zimbabwe issues a currency made of paper promises, then not many people are going to take them seriously, like promises from a newly-released fraudster wouldn't have their promises taken very seriously. A country like Switzerland issuing a currency is taken fairly seriously because they are expected to have good judgment, reliability, political stability and all that good stuff.

Mq's new currency is entirely new in concept. The WC [world citizenship] crowd would use it. As would others.
