This is news to me - I don't know what you mean by an Arab program of "NO". If the outsiders were trying to live as equals with the local population what the question that "NO" was an answer to?


NO to living as equals; NO to partition of Palestine, the choice voted in by the UN. Remember that the Palestinian national leader in 1948 was the Grand Mufti, Haj Amin al Husseini, and he was an ardent Nazi. Had he won, no Jews would have survived in Palestine.

I am reading the Iron Cage (The Story of the Palestinian Struggle for Statehood) right now, by Rashid Khalidi. It's very interesting and well written. You can't read it in isolation, and there are several other books to read along with it, but it would be a nice starting place I think- as would Said's books.
