dont know the origin of the word - I know a couple of people from Nagaland, and they have been friends over a few decades. the word "Nag" in hindi means a snake. the word "Nanga" in hindi means naked. so I guess there are variations that could be interpreted different ways. India has a population of 1B which includes pretty much every religion in the world. Acts of violence do happen. It is not easy to describe a specific act as a crime or a terrorist activity. having said the above, please do realize - I have not lived in India for the last 25 years - I go once every coupl years to visit family and keep touch with Indian things by reading on the web.
