I live on a farm, and I have very good neighbours. If they see me cutting firewood with a crosscut saw. They offer to lend me their chainsaw, cause mine must be broken. Last week we had a few inches of snow, and I decided to remove it manually. Two people stopped and said "You don't have to do that. If your tractor won't start, I'll come over and plow it out for you."
I thankfully decline the offer, and they always look at me like they think I'm insane (after living here 24 years, you'd think they'd know!) when I say I like doing it the old fashioned way. Keeps me in shape.

I've gradually been buying some handtools, just as a backup. Extra blades for the buck saw, extra chains for my chainsaw, which I may have to run off alcohol some day, etc.
