the Russian article is excellent & I recommend the read. I have the opportunity to have visited a number of times the east side of the curtain (Russia , Ukraine, Poland) & am very surprised at our militaristic attitude considering the Russians capitulated, what in 1989 or so, & through fits & starts, good luck & bad, probably have maybe 3/4 trillion of convertible currencies in their coffers (playing by our standards, no less! check out LETRX...I was in back in the low teens)...not bad since the bond default in the summer of 1998. I think the US is going in for a hard fall soon...even Canada may get weary of our bs. with our misfortunes in government> the lack of leadership & fiscal discipline, we may have unwittingly & beautifully abetted & hastened development of democracies & middle classes else ware, including our former sworn enemies (nothing wrong with this...after all, is this not what we wanted in the first place?). now we are on international stage, our marquee play, a 'little girly' snit...maybe Arnold can say something. this sort of thing makes our portfolios go up quite nicely but you must realize consequences for all the bs we are the proud authors of. I think maybe we are not that grand any longer.
