No, actually it was brilliant in conception, and yet very low-tech.

That's the beauty part of it. All it took was an act of will, access to widely publicized airline schedules, and synchronized watches.

We had all become complacent that hijackers would just use their hijacked airplanes for transportation.

The Japanese used airplanes as suicide bombs during WWII but we'd forgotten about that, along with the rest of WWII in the Pacific.

I suppose you realize that people actually saw the plane fly into the Pentagon. That's the thing that conspiracy theorists have to pretend didn't happen, but people actually did report seeing this on that date.

I live in Northern VA, my husband worked half a mile from the Pentagon, so I was paying careful attention to the events of that day as they unfolded.

I listened to people talking about it on the radio. Now, you may say they were lying. I can accept your disbelief.

But what conspiracy theorists say is that nobody says they saw it, and that's an outright lie.
