As you know I am somewhat compulsive about my treatment of extremisms, which I am convinced is the modern plague of our generation. It destroys decency and principled conscious everywhere it finds a niche.

This debate seems to be flushing out some of the same type of thinking. All principled people would agree that we don't want to see our brethren destroy their lives and bring suffering to those around them by addiction to drugs. I see two enemies in this problem that are opposite sides of the same coin just as I see the extremes of violence to be dual in nature.

Drugs: We have a claim that the war on drugs has encouraged the drug culture and related criminal industries to thrive. We have the other claim that liberally permitting the drug culture to get a foothold has brought about a disrespect for a nation of law, and consequently an out of control rise in crime paired with disintegrating social fabric. It is ridiculous, on the surface, to suggest that making harmful conduct illegal, is designed to further wanton and destructive behavior. On the other hand it is ridiculous to condemn every social endeavor outside of devotion to oppressive dogma, unless we are trying to drive casual participants or adventurous spirits to an extreme camp.

Terrorism: We have some people alleging that 911 was an inside job. That is ridiculous. I doubt it, at least in the sense of the usual conspiracy theory. However, even rational people are moved to wonder about it when they have experience with people like you. If you look at the tactics of the death cultures you can get a sense of how such extreme bigoted pressure can nudge someone from the other extreme to an edge. I worry about heinous acts of violence in America that are planned and perpetrated by foreign enemies. I also worry about the inside job being perpetrated by bigoted extremists from within, deliberately pushing people over that edge. I find you both intolerable and equivalent.
