Private ownership has little to do with "being the king". Having the king own everything would be more like government ownership.

Earlier in this thread I posted a link to good example of a real tragedy of the commons, that had been relieved by greater private ownership of resources.

Not necessarily true. Its preferable to be the servant of the king in the rich, peaceful kingdom than the equal citizen in the dustbowl of Ethiopia after 10 years of drought. It's all relative, man...

Its usually better to be the king than the servant of the king, but the servant's life is often better than lots of people on the planet. Servants of the king usually have plenty of food.

Sometimes its even better to be the servant of the king than the king himself. When the rival kingdom attacks and takes over your king's kingdom, your king often loses his head, but if you are a fine French servant chef for the deposed king, you can probably get a job as a fine French servant chef to the new victorious king, maybe even get a pay raise if you're lucky.
