DougSF30, on AMD's 40% FP figure

The other way of looking at this is that the FP numbers are already out, and need to be, for Cray's supercomputer bids. They don't need to release the integer numbers at the same level of urgency. I'm not saying that I know or suspect anything about the integer numbers; I suspect the final results are not in yet -- for instance, there may still be compiler tweaking going on to achieve the best benchmark values. So we may still be pleasantly surprised by the advance in integer (rather, non-FP) performance.

Doug - seems you missed sth. regarding the source of AMD's numbers as I posted 2 days ago ( Message 23297592 )

"Early testing on prototypes shows 42 percent greater performance than Intel's Clovertown on some kinds of computer calculations known as floating-point operations that are used heavily in generating computer images and graphics."

Well, regarding integer (actually general) performance we just have some "10% faster than C2D at the same clock" statement from a poster on XtremeSystems.
