You may be right - but why help them towards that outcome? Had we been wise - taken care of business in Afghanistan and then followed a policy similiar to China's it would have taken one heck of a long time - if ever - that China would overtake us. Instead of placing our resources into developing infrastructure, education and scientific research - we decide to sink our resources into the cesspool of Iraq.

Do you have any ideas how many engineers China and India turn out compared to us?

Iran and iraq are inconsequential in the longer timeline. If you want to beat china you have to educate people to become engineers and scientists and researchers and not social workers. You have to demand excellence from teachers and lower welfare rates until those on welfare go back to work.
The US doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to do that.
