Good for you. and I remember when members of the school board were scared to death because parents demanded far more from teachers. Not more in the way of feel good course, but more in the Kids need to be able to read, write and do mathematics. Children who come out of schools unable to read are a sure sign that their teachers need to be replaced.

Give every school a ranking and every parent the right to choose the school their kids go to, and pay the bills by the number of students, and schools will improve. Schools don't need magnificent structures, they need magnificent teachers, and too many teachers are not even basically interested in teaching

city schools and teachers are a disaster. kids are being taught, they get passed through a system and come out without any education. voucher system would lead to improvements.
