Charity begins at home as does any good intention and effort. What level of influence do you or I have in those places compared to what we can do right where we stand? "That is wonderful in North america. But what about Thailand? Indonesia? Lebanon? Saudi Arabia? Iran? Iraq? France, Britain, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Australia?" What if there is another Bosnian kid who is now entering high school in your community. What if the kids and the community include him and make him feel welcome and accepted as a valued member of the school, community, and town? Do you imagine he would be less likely to go off the deep end than if Bullies persecute him for his heritage and no one is willing to reach out a hand of friendship? Note: I blame only the kid in Utah for his actions but I don't reject responsibility for doing what I can to change things for the better. How about you?
