they are earning like 67 dollars per hour. I just went though this silly game on another thread. In Montgomery County MD they get around 50-70 k in just a couple of years, that's for 9 months work, 2 weeks Christmas, 2 weeks easter, every fed holiday, 2 weeks or more [paid vacation, 12 days sick leave. They are over paid

Perhaps that is true in your school district but certainly not in mine. Palm Beach County teachers start at over 30k a year and go up to about 60k a year for a NINE MONTH YEAR. I perhaps wouldnt feel teachers were overpaid IF there were no NEA or Unions that PRESERVE incompetent teachers and pay them the same as competent ones, and if the curriculum for teachers wasnt so DAMN EASY. Any college graduate on this thread KNOWS that the teaching degree is among the easiest and lowest academic requirement for any major. Here in Palm Beach County we wanted to give outstanding teachers (measured by improvement by students) bonuses, UNION OPPOSES IT. jdn
