I don't think the Shia would have been enthusiastic about being invaded by Americans. You may think that, but I don't agree with you.

And you base your opinion on what? Do you know any Iraqi Shias?

I don't know about the Kurds- but they are so small a population they don't really matter.

They are 15%-20% of Iraq's population, and they matter to themselves, if not to you.

I bet 90% of the rest of Iraq would have said "NO" to being invaded.

If you ignore the Shias and the Kurds, the "rest" of Iraq is about 15% of the population.

I'd wager the people of Tibet would love to have India liberate them from China.

I'd wager the people of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, the Stans and all the countries captured by the Soviet Union would have loved to have the USA liberate beginning in 1945 up to the collapse of the Soveit Union in 1990.

I'd wager most North Koreans would love to have South Korea liberate them.

People don't like living under oppressive dictatorships. Of course, they don't like wars either, but when foreign military powers serve their interest (remove Saddam), they are going to be in favor of it.
