I know exactly what you mean. -ng-

I took the slightly moldy sleeping bags and the covers from the couch in little Dusty down to the laundromat today. We went up and collected them on Sunday and found that there isn't as much damage as we'd feared. I did the smaller covers in my own washing machine......they came out just fine....... but the couch cover is just too big, and I don't think it should go through a machine. The Dry Cleaning man agreed with me, so I left it with him. The sleeping bags are all clean and dry now and will find a nice home in the hall closet until we get Dusty out from her tomb among the trees and back home. We think a couple of heaters going full blast inside for about a week should dry her right out, but don't know when we are going to be able to do that as the tomb brush must be removed by some kind of big equipment first. We aren't sure or don't know if there is any structural damage and won't know until then.

Her refrigerator is just a ugly, moldy mess as is the flooring under the sink. We found several containers full of the stinkiest water you've ever smelled and dumped them. Got out as much water as we could and cracked open a few windows.

I'd rather root around your attic, which sounds a lot like my husband's parents attic. Just a real treasure trove of artifacts. When we went to clean it out we had 3 dumpsters full hauled away after everyone took what they wanted.
