I don't think you're getting the drift. Tenet was one of the big reasons why the CIA became a former shadow of itself in the years leading up to 9/11. He's a bureaucrat through and through. More interested in looking good to his peers and superiors than in getting real results (if that was even possible under either the Clinton or Bush administrations).

IMO, Bush placed way too much trust in Tenet after 9/11. That combined with the pressure to go to war with Iraq made the CIA once again the joke of the entire world. And Tenet was right there playing along.

Given all this, I would not trust Tenet to "tell it straight," unless he's willing to own up completely to his part in neutering the CIA.
