The very idea that people unable to spell all have or are in the middle of College educations, and no one seems to mind makes me realise that the rot starts at the bottom and goes all the way to the top.

"Rot"? Schools should be a local issue - unless you are one of those who believe in a big federal government. Do you sit on your local school board? If not, stop complaining and do something positive about it.

I do not share your negativity towards our schools and here's why:
The schools that you are complaining about are somehow turning out some pretty darn good scientist. How about our biotech industry? How about our alternate fuel industry? How about our defense industry? ......I could go on, but despite what you say, somehow it's working. .........I do believe the cost of secondary education is way too high. That is, as I said before, because it is so low on our priorities. No shortage of paying for bombs and nation building, but whatever you do don't help students in secondary school. Priorities!
