I tip my hat to you for your efforts to see your son received a good education. You should have ran for the school board.

We as parents are responsible for that - remember when personal responsibility was important? Bad-mouthing teachers however accomplishes nothing as there are good teachers as well as bad. Unless we get on school boards and work for change, we have only ourselves to blame. Back to your son though, why do you have such negative feelings about education if he did so well? And one more thing, your son didn't become a teacher did he? Why not? My guess is he makes one heck of a lot more than teachers. That's the nuts of the problem - good, smart people can make much much more in almost any field other than education. Right? There is no incentive for good educators to go into education...
