Intel seems to have the edge on AMD right now, yet the Intels stock is 29 and change.

I'd be quite pleased with 29-and-change. That aside, Intel has had the lead back for only 6 months at this point. Relative stock performance still lags tech performance, and over the next couple year's Intel's advantages are going to grow. (As AMD slides toward insolvency.)

Jim, I know people being laid off at Motorola and other high-tech companies. Broadcom is the local high-tech celebrity where I live, yet its stock has fallen from its highs of 150 to 35. Meanwhile its execs are under investigation by the SEC for backdating options.

Guess I could be like you and go into real estate. Of course, that's one area where timing matters a lot more than smarts. It says a lot when the previous owners of my house moved to Idaho and bought a new home with their gains alone. Wow, they must be freakin' geniuses ...
