<<I've done a charter up there...its fun but its not like a lake trout. Lake trout are both big and deep. I saw a 35 pounder up in Canada - it was huge!>>

Kings strip line, Lakers are like pulling up dead weight until they are in the boat, then they get wild. I took down riggers up to Kenora in Sept. '83, nobody knew what they were. My dad had always wanted to catch a Laker and I hooked him up with a 12 pound Laker. He was 78 and 3 months from dying and he was proud of catching that fish from 110' deep.

Next year I went up with my wife. Guy from Chicago showed up with a Ragin' Cagin bass boat. No, she didn't run off with him. Anyway the guy and the camp owner were driving down to another spot to fish for Lakers. This being a bass and walleye spot lots of people were doing the oohs and aaws about someone catching Lakers. I asked If I could trailer up and follow them down to find some of the fishing spots. I was told in front of the people that I was too dumb and my boat was too slow to keep up.

We trailered up and went to Clear Water Bay. The hotshots got back first with a 14" Laker that wasn't even legal to keep, then we pulled in with 3 Lakers, 12 pounds the small one and 20 pounds the biggie. He chewed my ass out so much I haven't been back since. Someone made him look stupid but it wasn't me.

BTW, I had changed the screw on my boat from a 21 to a 13. Oral will explain that.
