Exactly, and it is my understanding growing corn for fuel gives one no net sum gain and is harder on the soil. Plus it raises the cost of food for the rest of the world. And then of course their is increased pesticide pollution fo the soil.

It is hard for me to believe they cannot convert coal or oil shale as cheaply as grow corn.

In the San Jose area they built homes on some of the best agriculatural land in the country. build the homes on rock and grow crops on good soil.
